Speculation: BLOCKBUSTER TRADE INCOMING?
With the Lottery happening this week, I started thinking about the GSW. Golden State holds the worst record in the league meaning they have the highest shot at that #1 overall pick. The problem for Golden state is that despite their record, they are in WIN NOW mode with Curry and Thompson both still in their primes for the next couple years. They don't want to build around Lamelo, or Wiseman, or Edwards. The Warriors would be better off dealing the pick.
There have been tons of rumors around the Warriors acquiring elite talent, from Giannis to Devin Booker, its all out there. Why wouldn't it be? This is the same front office that added Kevin Durant in 2016, and Demarcus Cousins in 2018! I don't think Giannis goes, I don't think Booker goes. Bradley Beal is interesting but I doubt it. The real player to watch comes from the 76ers.
Almost everyone has an opinion on the 76ers roster construction. Better with Ben vs Better with Embiid, but most agree the best version of the 76ers includes only one of their two cornerstones. Now, with Ben Simmons out requiring surgery on his knee, might be the perfect time for Golden State to snag one of them.
Philly plays Boston in the first round. I assume that they will get crushed. IF they don't, and Embiid on a bad ankle leads them deep into the playoffs anything can happen. If they get crushed in the first round, with the health of their star in question, it might be time to blow it up. Golden State is in the perfect position (if they get #1 pick) to dangle a promising young star to put next to Embiid/Simmons and Harris. They have a great and deep team, their two best pieces just don't fit.
Watch out for Golden State, they will be in the market to poach one of Philly's Superstars
